Why John McCain picked Palin

Palin completely changes the complexion of the election, and helps establish a narrative of two mavericks, one too old and one too young, waging an underdog quest against Battlestar Barack.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a 44-year-old with five children, a captivating TV-mom look and a brief and but weighty background as a reformer governor, has vaulted from relative national obscurity to star in a game-turning role as John McCain’s running mate.

I took an in-depth look at Palin in predicting this choice back in June in in a commentary published in Iowa Independent.

I just heard that McCain has picked Palin and am elated! I'm a Clinton democrat and PUMA, and I think that McCain has hit a grand slam with this pick! I'm hearing the same from many other women around the blogosphere. Way to go, maverick! You just earned my vote.

I'm very interested in cognitivedissonance's remark.

Are you saying that it doesn't matter what a candidate's policies are, as long as she's a woman?

Compelling VP Choices part II

..."I did my research and I had to agree Governor Palin was/is a quite intriguing choice. For all the reasons I mentioned above and more. She answers all the questions that have followed Senator McCain and she adds a new spark and a luster to what is already a pretty dynamic campaign. Since that time she has always been on my short list and I think she is the ultimate compliment to Senator John McCain."

I have never been so elated over a candidate in my entire life! (This is my 7th candidate to be able to choose.) Just wish she were the presidential candidate, but...after all these months I have decided I would vote for McCain. I would never have voted for ObamamamaHussein, but I was seriously considering some third party selection...
Then, Palin came on and the rest is history. I agree with everything she said and everything she does. I like her hunting, fishing, loving, hardhitting, no pantywaist, ways. I love the way she raises her children and the love she and her husband exhibit toward the children.
You Go Sarah Palin. Don't change a thing!!!!

The more I see and hear about Sarah, the more blessed I am about the brilliant choice McCain made in choosing her as his Vice President. Some people are questioning her ability to run the country if she were to find herself as president due to John's age. Hello!!! That is why the president has a cabinet and advisors!! That is why there is a congress. I wish "my fellow Americans" would stand up and get educated before making such ignorant comments.
